out of hands
STUK with 30CC
Acrobatic bodies squeeze themselves into impossible positions. A live band immerses you in a sound bath of electronic dark wave, gothic, industrial, noise and extreme metal. out of hands is a dance and music performance about the dark side of being young. A group of young people take you on an intense trip into their underworld. Away from the ideal image. Straight to the pain of being a teenager.
In 2018, choreographer Michiel Vandevelde created the production Paradise Now (1968-2018) at fABULEUS, which was received as one of the most exciting dance performances of that year. For out of hands, he collaborates again with young people aged between 13 and 23. In ancient myths, youthfulness often symbolises immortality, purity, innocence and hope. Behind this idealised view, there is also a very different world: that of bodies out of balance. out of hands is situated between the underworld and upperworld of the psyche. An mesmerising experience.
