PAM P.M. 11

Eleventh edition of PAM, our gathering for peers from the audiovisual and media arts world

After a short break, PAM (Platform for Audiovisual and Media Arts) is looking forward to our next gathering, this time focusing on hybrid practices, and the challenges in production and distribution we encounter along the way. This is an opportunity to come together again, and share questions, concerns, and inspiring examples, tapping into our collective knowledge and experience.

For this edition, PAM invites Alex Verhaest and Ischa Tallieu to share their knowledge and experience in navigating the art field.

Alex Verhaest is an artist whose work revolves around storytelling, drawing influence from expanded cinema and a youth steeped in video games. With each new project, she explores what it means to make films in a multi-screen, post-Nintendo society. Her narrative-driven practice speaks to the beautifully perverse paradox of human disconnection in an age of constant communication. Verhaest’s highly pictorial style emerges from a poetic interplay between film, animation, and video art, woven into an uncanny and evocative visual world. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at ZKM Karlsruhe, HKW Berlin, and Bozar. She is the recipient of the New Face Award at the Japan Media Arts Festival and the prestigious Golden Nica at Ars Electronica. In 2023, she was awarded The Ultima, the Flemish Cultural Prize, in recognition of her oeuvre.

Ischa Tallieu holds a Master’s degree in Art History and a Postgraduate Specialisation in Theatre Studies. From 1997 to 2014, she served as director of Galerie Fortlaan 17, and since 2014, she has led Tallieu Art Office. The office operates across diverse domains—visual, installation, and new media art; music and sound art; and performing arts—always with a strong emphasis on transdisciplinary practices. With a focus on selection, promotion, and communication, Tallieu Art Office is active in curating exhibitions, networking, consultancy, expertise sharing, and artist representation.

For this occasion, Out of Sight in Antwerp is hosting PAM members and anyone who is interested in this topic. The organisation was founded in 2018 by artists Dušica Dražić and Wim Janssen. Out of Sight is dedicated to supporting the development and presentation of experimental, audiovisual, and time-based practices beyond the logic of consumption and the market. It creates space for the ephemeral and the ambiguous, where the poetic and the political meet.
