Physical Rhythm Machine / Boem BOem
Monumental audiovisual installation allows you to experience the physical impact of rhythm
Physical Rhythm Machine / Boem BOem is a monumental installation by The Hague-based sound artist Philip Vermeulen (NL). An acoustic instrument shoots tennis balls at high speed onto twho wooden percussion panels. Since the instrument can be controlled via laptops, it is in fact a huge drum machine, able to play complex rhythmic compositions. Add synced stroboscopes and you get an even stronger physical impact for the listener. Boem BOem was recently shown at festivals like CTM Berlin, Today’sArt Den Haag and Into The Great Wide Open. This will be the Belgian premiere.
