Meet the next generation of Belgium-based sound artists.

STUK, Q-O2 and Musica present a sample of new sound art in Belgium. Four promising artists show their work with a parcours through the STUK building. In order to develop their work, they were given residency time and space. The showcase shows the diversity of the Belgian sound landscape, from installation over improvisation to performance, and gives a little push to the next generation of sound artists.

Dominique ‘t Jolle builds a new sculptural installation based on her own experience with tinnitus. By moving in and alongside the work, the listener seems to be in the head of someone with strong ringing in the ears. Percussionist Andrés Navarro García investigates the sonic qualities of an (amplified) metal plate. With bare hands and found objects such as rocks or tubes, he gets the most diverse sounds from the plate. Sound artist aRzu Saglam has a more philosophical approach: her installation performance observes the behaviour of volcanoes by means of image, sound and text. Finally, experimental musician Niets Latomme a.k.a. Beyt Al Tapes brings along his race bike for a repetitive performance that drives him to physical limits.
