Slaapwel Records is a small record label specialized in music to fall asleep to. Sleep-inducing soundtracks made for the thin border between being asleep and lying awake, deliberately choosing the sleepy side. The artists on the Slaapwel label are machinists of narcolepsy, masters in making “boring music”. Simon Scott, also known as the drummer of Slowdive, invites you to a bittersweet mantra on an afternoon nap on a hot summer day. Since 2004, sound artist Rutger Zuydervelt - a.k.a. Machinefabriek - releases his material on small labels such as Type, Dekorder, 12k and Staalplaat. His music combines elements of ambient, classical music, minimalism, drone and field recordings. He guides the audience to the shores of dream land with a minimal impro session. Bernard Zwijzen, Somni451, creates a peculiar sonic universe with minimal, atmospheric electronics familiar to labels such as Mille Plateaux, Scape, Kompakt…His moniker Somni451 was inspired by David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas. It will be a slow sound walk along pulsating sine waves, streched piano loops and soft, hissing cracks. Morning glory will be on behalf of the tape label Dauw from Ghent, with the alarm clock set by the Barcelonese duo Sokkyō, Heine Christensen and Ciro Berenguer. Sokkyō is Japanese for “music without planning” - their little sonic stories shape up through momentary inspiration.

Practical: Doors open at 10:30 pm and close at 10:45pm. The concert is held with closed doors, so latecomers cannot get in. Tickets that are reserved have to be paid by 10:15pm, if not they will be put back on sale. The first concert starts at 11:00pm. If the concert is not sold out in advance, people on the waiting list can buy a ticket at 10:15 pm. In the morning, breakfast is provided: on Friday from 7:00 am and Saturday from 8:00 am. May we ask you to wear your pyjamas and bring your toothbrush. Everyone will get a single bed (or a bunk bed) in which you can fall asleep during the concert (don’t worry, the musicians won’t feel offened!) Around 1:30 am the music will end.. if you’re still awake. We ask you to not applaud during or after the concert to not wake any of the other participants. People from STUK will be around the whole night. Nighty night! If you have have more questions you can mail at gilke.vanuytsel@stuk.be
