• De Vlaamse Primitieven

De Vlaamse Primitieven is the alter ego of Antwerp-based guitar players Jan Boudart & Freek Vreys. After their studies jazz guitar they discovered a common love for experimental music an American 'primitive' guitar music of John Fahey, Robbie Basho, Glenn Jones and others. They studied these masters and developed an obsession to not only keep that beautiful look at playing guitar, but to mix the 'American primitivism' with British folk, jazz and drones. At the end of the year, they release their debut album Lucht van een Andere Planeet on Pang Pang Records.

• Liam Grant

Liam Grant is a guitarist from New England (USA). Although only 23 years old, Liam has become a leading force in the revival of American ‘primitive’ guitar music in the tradition of John Fahey, Robbie Basho, Jack Rose or Glenn Jones. Witness to this are the restless fingerpicking explorations, modal keys and driving uptempo rags. He combines this 'old soul’ tradition with a punk ethos and new experimental elements. In his music, he evokes the landscapes he grew up in. They are personal instrumental memoirs of the banks of the Merrimack River, a landscape that holds deeper meanings for Grant.
