SYLVIE KREUSCH - MONTBRAY

Sylvie Kreusch is quickly becoming one of the most impressive and exciting artists in Europe. Her expressive live shows and intriguing mix of pop and alternative sounds gained praise from leading media such as The Washington Post, The New York Times, Beats One and Dazed.

Kreusch rose to the Belgian scene with art rockers Soldier’s Heart and Warhaus, the solo project of Balthazar’s Maarten Devoldere. After releasing her debut EP BADA BING! BADA BOOM! and follow-up EP Wild Love, her artistic vision comes to full fruition with upcoming debut album Montbray.

One thing is clear from the start: Kreusch dares to light the emotional fireworks. She digs up all forbidden passages of lovesickness with playful voyeurism. Montbray breathes and ventilates, not only in terms of lyrics and vocals, but within a unique mix of styles and influences. Kreusch does not believe in pop music with a definite statement; mysterio, dubio and suggestion are key. These songs sneak in and out of several wavelengths, be it the impressionist interplay of Can, the bawdy prose of Serge Gainsbourg or the theatrical pop craft of Kate Bush.

Montbray embodies the rediscovery of love and lust for life, with dramatism as well as brutal, unpolished truth. The truth that love may have an expiration date within an unspoken emptiness, or hides in the shadows of the other. That love flows impetuously and endlessly in Sylvie Kreusch’s most natural, cherished habitat: on a great height, under the brightest lights.
