The Gyre

A hypnotic duet that evokes the endless circling, colliding, and merging of matter.

All matter moves and flows, often invisible to the eye. An endless number of possible forms arise and collapse from this flux, driven by an urgent need to exist and to propagate.

In this mesmerising duet, the choreography circles incessantly around a fixed center, like subatomic particles or planets in orbit. The Gyre is a dance that plays with optical perception: in every instant of a turn, the two performers drift in and out of one another, their distinct lines and contours delicately blurring into one. Dancers Angela Rabaglio and Micaël Florentz draw the spectator into this hypnotic state.
