Anna Karenina Lambrechts - From Gravity To Grace
During her residency in STUK, Anna Karenina Lambrechts investigates her own, unique dance language that forms a pertinent artistic form of expression of her personality. With a scala of dance styles like krump, contemporary dance and traditional Filipino dance she looks for ways to encompass the dance forms she carries within her.
Urban and contemporary dance, Western and Eastern culture and elegance and rawness are held under scrutiny, juxtaposed and put out of their boxes. Through these encounters, a new dance language arises that crosses styles, continents, cultures and time.
This pre-research will lead to a new solo creation named From Gravity To Grace. It sees Anna Karenina take the audience on an emotional journey in which she tries to understand her own roots, communicate them and look for enlightenment. It's a journey between the earthly and heavenly, connection and disconnection, the different phases of her 'being'. This physical dance solo is an ode to how a mixed identity can be a powerful force? From Gravity To Grace premieres April 3 2025 in STUK.
