Ferenc Balcaen

SCAPEGOAT is a performance by young Belgian theater maker Ferenc Balcaen. He investigates the complex relation between violence and eroticism using Dante's Divine Comedy. The performance takes the audience on a journey through a desolate inferno where faceless individuals loom. Influenced by the works of Peter Paul Rubens and Francis Bacon, SCAPEGOAT challenges the viewer's moral compass and creates an alternative world where your compassion are challenged to the core. The score of SCAPEGOAT makes clever use of voices and soundscapes inspired by Solage's polyphonic compositions and Liszt's Dante Sonate / Fantasia Quasi Sonate.
