In STUK, we usually speak through artists and their artworks. They offer us a perspective on a complex world. They help us look at the familiar with new eyes and imagine worlds we don't yet know. They make us reflect on situations that seem distant from us.

But sometimes we have to speak directly.

STUK looks with horror at the events unfolding in Palestine and Israel: the killing of innocent civilians on both sides, the long-standing violation of basic human rights.

We express our solidarity with the Palestinian citizens, who are caught up in this conflict without choice and have been forced to survive in a hopeless and utterly unfair situation for decades. Cut off from the world, while that world is watching.

Therefore we ask our Belgian and European governments to call for an immediate cease-fire to allow the catastrophe in Gaza to come to a halt, and bring much-needed humanitarian help to affected civilians.
