Dijf Sanders - Puja (album release)
Due to the impact of the corona crisis, we have to downscale this concert night, meaning Waclaw Zimpel and HUNA Sounds will not be able to perform. Dijf Sander's concert will take place as planned. The exact programme of the night will be published soon.
After a musical trip to Indonesia for 2017’s album Java, composer and multi-instrumentalist Dijf Sanders’s new destination was Nepal. Armed with his recorder, he crossed the Himalaya to register the Nepalese, Tibetan, Chinese and Indian cultures. The sound material formed the base for a musical universe constructed with drummer Simon Segers, sax player Mattias De Craene and sitar player Nicolas Mortelmans. The result is a brand new album, Puja, packed with enchanting trance with hints of voodoo rhythms, exotic scales and monk chants. Namaste!
Polish composer and clarinetist Wacław Zimpel is considered as one of the most original talents of his country. With all kinds of wind instruments, from clarinet to khaen (a mouth organ from Laos) he shifts between styles like free jazz, minimalist electronica and roots music from all over the world. His second release Massive Oscillationsis due January 31: a hypnotising trip based on experiments with the historic synths from the Willem Twee studio in Den Bosch.
HUNA Sounds is a Ghent-based collective with a passion for eclectic music from across the globe. As promotors they have welcomed colourful acts like Dengue Dengue Dengue, Atlin Gün, DJ Marcelle and Ammar 808. Their DJ sets mix maghrebian synths, Arabic techno and African disco into one delicious cocktail.
