in De Maak 2021 - The Festival That Never Happened

From March 12-14 STUK welcomes The Festival That Never Happened, a festival made for and by ‘new makers’ united in Platform In De Maak. Together, they curated a walk into the city of Leuven alongside various performances that, for the occasion, have been transformed into audio podcasts, pre-recorded- or visual artworks.

In times of COVID-19, this event is a testimony to the dark optimism that is the common ground that brings them together. They show resilience through their belief in human creativity.

This teaser-event will never be able to replace the living art form of the performing arts. Nevertheless, they are able to give an introspection into the earlier stages of the creative work-in-progress so that you can get to know us artists at work… in anticipation of the real live festival.

This is a covid-proof event. The walk mostly takes place outdoors and the ‘new makers’ will not be physically present. To know how to access the different artworks, a map including several itineraries will be available online from 11.03 onwards and on-site during the festival. This map will indicate ‘where and how’ you can watch and listen to the artworks.

In STUK works by Silke Gerinckx (FANTASMAGORIE), Judith Engelen en Claire Vrijenhoek (I'm doing the most loving thing right now by staying away) en Zoë Demoustier (Unfolding an Archive) will be on display.

About Platform In De Maak

Platform In De Maak came to existence for and by ‘new makers’ in the performing arts. The platform aims to build a peer-to-peer network and lend a face to makers at the start of their trajectory. Platform In De Maak strives to be a non-hierarchical organisation. All together, we introduce a safe space to present new work in the performing arts.
