Open call to all dancers from Leuven
STUK and Dansvloer Leuven invite you to learn the famous Rosas danst Rosas chair scene yourself from Rosas dancers Sue-Yeon Youn and Yuika Hashimoto, and create your own version under the guidance of a coach.
Filmmaker David Jacobs will immortalise all versions with a film shoot at striking locations in Leuven. Afterwards, you can enjoy your film premiere during the opening night of the Body of Work festival at STUK on 20 February 2025

What, when and where?
➤ Sunday 02.02, 10:00 - 17:00: workshop day + Rehearsal 1- in STUK
➤ Sunday 09.02, 10:00 - 17:00: Rehearsal 2 - in STUK
➤ Video shoot : filming will happen during the weekend of 15 and 16 February and will take about 4 hours per shoot. We will communicate your specific shoot hours on February 2. Until then, keep the entire weekend free.

Sue-Yeon Youn
Sue-Yeon Youn (South Korea) studied Korean Traditional Dance and graduated from the dance department at the Korean National University of Arts in Seoul. Between 2001 and 2003 she worked as a dancer in the Sungsoo Ahn Pick-up Group in Korea. In 2003 and 2004 Sue-Yeon studied at the Rotterdam Dance Academy. From 2004 till 2006 she followed the Research Cycle at P.A.R.T.S., from which she graduated with Love. Death. My life with Ting -Yu. Oh wait, I am you. In 2006 she participated at Deborah Hay’s Solo Performance Commissioning project o,o at the Findhorn Community Foundation in Scotland.
Sue-Yeon joined Rosas in 2007 for the creation of Steve Reich Evening and took part in the creation of Zeitung, En Atendant, Golden Hours (As you like it), The six Brandenburg Concertos, The Dark Red Research project/Brancusi and the revivals of Rosas danst Rosas, Bartók/Mikrokosmos, Elena’s Aria and Drumming.
She worked with various artists such as David Zambrano for Soul project and created a duet for his piece called Holes. In 2016, she collaborated with Georgia Vardarou for the creation of New Narratives. And in 2019 she collaborated with Femke Gyselinck for the creation of Moving ballads and later Letters 2 Dance. In 2021, she contributed as dancer to the creation of Fruit Tree by Lara Barsacq.
In 2024, she was part of the creation of Voice Noise by Jan Martens.
Yuika Hashimoto
Yuika Hashimoto (Japan) has been dancing since she was 3 years old, taking lessons with Yoshie Nagai in Ishikawa. She continued her dance education in Tokyo, where she graduated from the Japan Women’s College of Physical Education in March 2014. She graduated from P.A.R.T.S. (Brussels) in June 2016. In 2015, she collaborated with Scarbo saxophone quartet (Belgium) for the project PAGINE. Yuika joined Rosas in 2016 for the revival of Rain. She has been performing most of the early works of Rosas, and participated in the Dark Red projects. Since 2022, Yuika has worked as a freelancer with Rosas, fieldworks (Belgium/Norway) and nïm company (Austria). On a volunteer basis, she gives dance workshops to people with mental disabilities at Bind Kracht.
