Composer-pianist Frederik Croene reflects on his ever-changing identity as a pianist. In his No Context Pieces, he presents five short pieces played on a MIDI keyboard. Underneath each key is a sound fragment, from carillon to duck (right?). The fragments are selected from recordings of his entire repertoire. This results in short, lightning-fast snippets of sound that together tell a completely new and bizarre story. An ironic, light-hearted look at his oeuvre, which is usually rather serious.

Ka Baird is a performer, composer and sound designer based in New York City. They are known for their live solo performances which include extended vocal, breath and microphone techniques combined with electronics and psychoacoustic interplay of flutes and other woodwinds. They create a present tense sound with a vigorous delivery that seeks extreme release through physical exertion and psychic extension that “dances in the undefined margins of experimental sound, performance art and humor.” After their amazing record Respires at RVNG Intl in 2019, they performed at MOMA, Le Guess Who? and Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
