PNEUMATOLOGY. FIGURES OF BREATH AND WIND IN VISUAL ARTS

Vlad Ionescu
19:00 – STUK Labozaal

In pre-modern and modern art, the wind and the breath have been figuratively represented. In contemporary arts, however, both figures have been employed as intensive figural forces that question the visual quality of an image and transform it in a tactile space of sensations. In his lecture, Ionescu maps out a few key moments of this artistic metamorphosis.

AS A CLOUD SHAPED BY THE WIND

Daniel Blanga-Gubbay
19:30 – STUK Labozaal

Clouds have often been seen as metaphor of the possible: we project our imagination being among them. But what if the clouds were among us? Daniel Blanga-Gubbay reflects on the use of the concept of the possible between distance and material proximity.

REMOTE SENSE

Rodrigo Sobarzo
20:30 – STUK Labozaal

For this evening we invite Rodrigo Sobarzo with Remote Sense. Remote sensing is a technology that provides information about an object, phenomenon or area without making physical contact. With his hands and body as tools, Rodrigo Sobarzo uncovers a landscape of salt and light, as if he were a sculptor. Without technology.
